Übrigens: Statistiken und Visualisierung – mir fällt da immer NationMaster ein, welches statistische Zahlen weltweit sammelt, aggregiert und visualisiert!

Ich bekam letzt den Hinweis die Open Access-Buchplattform auf OAPEN, die es scheint’s schon länger gibt, jedenfalls fand ich einen Hinweis auf Archivalia dazu. Jedenfalls kann man dort anhand von Metadaten nach frei verfügbaren (Verlags-)Büchern recherchieren oder browsen.

OAPEN ist offensichtlich auch der Initiator des jetzt neu startenden Directory of Opean Access Books, das in Inhalt und Ausrichtung parallel zu OAPEN liegt. Es bietet ebenfalls eine Suche in den Metadaten. Die “erweiterte” Suche erlaubt nur zwei Suchbegriffe, das wäre ein bisschen wenig. Ich bin vorhin aber bei einer Probe der einfachen Suche mit Boole’schen Operatoren und Klammerungen fündig geworden.

Die Landeszentrale für Politische Bildung Stuttgart tagt heute zu einem interessanten Thema:

Der United Nations E-Government Survey 2012 ist online!

The United Nations E-Government Survey 2012: E-Government for the People was com­ple­ted in December 2011 and laun­ched in February 2012. The 2012 edi­tion of the sur­vey was pre­pa­red in a con­text of mul­ti­ple chal­len­ges of an open, responsive and col­la­bo­ra­tive govern­ment for the people. The report exami­nes the insti­tu­tio­nal frame­work for e-government and finds that the pre­sence of a natio­nal coor­di­na­ting aut­ho­rity can help over­come inter­nal bar­ri­ers and focus minds on inte­gra­ted respon­ses to citi­zen con­cerns – an import­ant les­son for sus­tainable deve­lop­ment actors. The Survey also argues that e-government pro­vi­des admi­nis­tra­tors with power­ful tools for grap­pling with pro­blems of social equity and the digi­tal divide. The caveat is that govern­ments must find effec­tive chan­nels of com­mu­ni­ca­tion that fit natio­nal cir­cum­stan­ces while also taking steps to increase usage of online and mobile ser­vices in order to rea­lize their full bene­fit to citizens.

Der DVPW-Kongress wird gefördert durch die Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, das Land Baden-Württemberg und die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

UNCTAD has released the UNCTAD Handbook of Statistics for the year 2011.The Handbook of Statistics provides essential data for analysing and measuring world trade, investment, international financial flows and development. Reliable statistical information is often considered as the first step during the preparation of making recommendations or taking decisions that countries will commit for many years as they strive to integrate into the world economy and improve the living standards of their citizens. Whether it is for research, consultation or technical cooperation, UNCTAD requires comparable, often detailed economic, demographic and social data, over several decades and for as many countries as possible.
